# Child's Complexes Revealed In Sleep, Says Freud's Aide

If your child sleeps with his head beneath the covers don't give him courageous tasks, for he's afraid, according to Dr. Alfred Adler, docent of the Pedagogic Institute of Vienna, who spoke yesterday afternoon before the Child Study Association of America. Dr. Adler's lecture, explaining the significance of inferiority feelings in children, was given in the meeting house of the Society for Ethical Culture, 2 W. 64th st., Manhattan.

Dr. Adler, who has been associated with Freud, thus urged parents to watch for attitudes in children's sleep. Physical defects caused inferiority complexes, he said, but children frequently overcome them to the degree where liabilities became assets. But he admitted also that some children's complexes drove them to efficiency along useless and detrimental lines as they strove to shake off the feeling of inferiority.

Dr. Adler advocated watching a sleeping child to determine his complexes and influence him toward the right goal.
